June 30th, 2016

Today was a good day. My white blood cell count is trending down at 5,000 which is a good sign. My back and shoulder pain was not as bad as it was yesterday but it still makes walking and taking deep breaths a bit challenging. I’ve started to make more of an effort to walk around. My doctor I see on a regular basis always makes walking around a point of emphasis and I’ve got the energy so I figure it can’t hurt to be more active.

One of the tubes coming out of my PICC line had clogged last night, which is not good but thankfully today they were able to dissolve the clot inside. If they couldn’t have fixed it, I guess they would have had to remove my PICC. Given I’ve already been through a PICC replacement debacle I’m glad it didn’t come to that.

Heading into the long weekend, the hospital should be nice and deserted for the next few days which means express elevators for us inpatients (the REAL patients).

I might be able to see some fireworks tomorrow night from my room, since my view is so great. Let’s hope they’re celebrating both Canada Day and another day of having fewer white blood cells than before.

Still fighting,

Ethan Wissell
