As it turned out, last night I fell asleep before I could determine if I had a good enough view to glimpse any fireworks. Oh well. White blood cell count has continued to drop. It was at 3.2 yesterday, 2.6 today. Although it’s following a downward trend, the rate of change is getting smaller also,… Continue reading July 2nd, 2016

Today was a good day. My white blood cell count is trending down at 5,000 which is a good sign. My back and shoulder pain was not as bad as it was yesterday but it still makes walking and taking deep breaths a bit challenging. I’ve started to make more of an effort to walk… Continue reading June 30th, 2016

This steroid withdrawal is a lot more painful than I’d thought it would be. I’ve lost the fatigue but gained a crazy amount of back and shoulder pain. When I woke up this morning I could barely move. It took a couple doses of morphine and a heat pack to get to some form of… Continue reading June 29th, 2016

I’m starting to feel crappy again. Not sure if it’s from starting the chemo or weaning off steroids or both at the same time, but I feel super tired and have aching pain. I received my last dose of cytarabine last night, so I’m pretty sure I’m done with my first B part of the… Continue reading June 27th, 2016

Today is my second day of receiving cytarabine for the hyper CVAD protocol. It’s dripping through my IV as I write this. I realized today that half the drugs I’m on are drugs designed to mitigate side effects of chemotherapy. We’ll see how effective they are in the coming days.  What I am definitely feeling… Continue reading June 26th, 2016

Today is my second day of the hyper CVAD protocol I am receiving for my especially clingy cancer. My white blood cell count is up to 16,000 from 8,000 but given that I am tapering off steroids for this round of chemo, that’s not a surprise. The chemo doesn’t start to show results for a little… Continue reading June 25th, 2016

Today is my first day of my second round of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the first protocol that was used to try and achieve remission was not effective, as my cancer is resistant to chemo. This isn’t necessarily surprising given how extremely high my white blood cell count was when I was first diagnosed, but since entering… Continue reading June 24th, 2016
